As promised, we're sharing the new vision statement and vision priorities that were revealed in the service last night. It is a teaser because this Sunday we'll dive in much more depth into how each priority connects to the vision statement, where it arose in the feedback, and how we begin to flesh these out as a congregation.

After the appreciative inquiry around assets we spent several weeks asking in different ways, what should we focus on - as we listen to unheard voices, as we listen to community needs, as we listen to specifically spiritual needs that we might uniquely meet as a spiritual community, and as we listen to the needs within this congregation?
Then we took time to vet the list, research, make sure we weren’t reinventing the wheel. And we spent the time needed to discern, language and craft, not what we wanted, but what you all told us. And let's set this up with some wise words from our leadership that have been developed to help frame our vision and flesh out some of these single-word or phrase assets:
Collective is a religious institution and spiritual movement which invites exploration of the questions humans have traditionally turned to religion to answer: What are we doing here? What are we supposed to be doing? How does one live a ‘good’ life?
Ultimately, externally and internally, what should we focus on in this next season? What is our vision which helps clarify our priorities?
Here is what you said:
Keep in mind that we’ll get into much more detail next week on how we got these, how they tie together with the vision, and we'll begin to figure out how we make these real for us.
The four priorities that arose from the vision series are the red (internal) and black (external). We felt we needed to add Liturgy to these priorities as this consistently came through the feedback as a focal point and central motivator for realizing whatever vision came back.
STAY TUNED FOR MORE IN-DEPTH UNVEILING OF WHERE THIS VISION TAKES US, HOW IT UNITES US, AND HOW WE EMBODY THESE WORDS AND VALUES.
Coming back to the pledge drive, if you’d like some clarity on what you’re investing in over this next season, what will be made possible with the dollars you give to make this thing go, to make it vital and alive, not just for itself but to be life-giving... Here it is. your presence makes us who we are. Your pledge makes this vision possible.
We are a misfit faith community that gathers in DeLand on Sundays at 5pm. Come as you are.
We value highly the metaphor of journey. We’re different people from different places and backgrounds, representing an intergenerational community, and we’ve traveled different paths. So, we agree not to make assumptions about the person across from us, next to us, or in conversation with us. We challenge ourselves to be sensitive, knowing this community includes a diverse group of people from life-long followers of Jesus, to people who are just now open to the idea that God might exist. We strive to avoid offense, ask good questions, articulate and explain our responses. We don’t assume fluency in bible, spirituality, or Church language, because we believe the message of Jesus is not for Christianity, but for humanity. So, we do everything in the spirit of love and grace.
