For the third year, we descended upon the Cafe with the full force of a celebration worthy of the kind of life that defies death. Our pattern has become a DeLand tradition. Our brief service included a short reflection and words of hope, as well as gospel tunes from our musical guest. This year, our live music featured Uproot Hootenanny, a phenomenal, high-energy, blue-grass, Irish folk band. Our meal included Free-Wil BBQ, Trilogy Coffee, vegetarian options and more! A DeLand event and an Easter you never want to miss. Eat, drink and be merry!
This will be the first of several opportunities to share Easter photos and some great video, so stay tuned. Yes this is a blog, and yes we already have plenty of media with the weekly YouTube video and Podcast, but words just can't capture how great this event was. Check out the beautiful pictures and some of the inspiring thoughts you all shared about Easter.
"The miracle of Easter is as much about raising the living as raising the dead"
We can't thank you enough for another fabulous Easter event! To the Cafe , Free-Wil & Trilogy, without whom we couldn't have made it happen, sincere gratitude. Uproot made it an amazing day. And all of you who came out, thanks for helping solidify this DeLand, tradition. If we missed meeting you due to the crowd, come check out a Sunday service.
We raffled a couple of tickets and Bill Furlong was the big winner. We also sold our first batch of tickets for the event, coming up May 31st. Stay tuned for more info and event details, and get your tickets HERE.
We are a misfit faith community that gathers in DeLand on Sundays at 5pm. Come as you are.
We value highly the metaphor of journey. We’re different people from different places and backgrounds, representing an intergenerational community, and we’ve traveled different paths. So, we agree not to make assumptions about the person across from us, next to us, or in conversation with us. We challenge ourselves to be sensitive, knowing this community includes a diverse group of people from life-long followers of Jesus, to people who are just now open to the idea that God might exist. We strive to avoid offense, ask good questions, articulate and explain our responses. We don’t assume fluency in bible, spirituality, or Church language, because we believe the message of Jesus is not for Christianity, but for humanity. So, we do everything in the spirit of love and grace.
